Am I a Speaker or a Teacher?

Am I a Speaker or a Teacher?

I love teaching.

Teaching over 1,100 highly trained professionals that I have the utmost respect for, such as pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and nurses, via one webinar for PharmCon freeCE is daunting for so many reasons.

Teaching managers about the ADA, Title VII and PDA may seem dry and it can be … however, it’s incredibly critical for not just HR compliance but for the human-employee experience. To retain employees, we must practice and exceed the principles of these laws.

During these webinars, you can’t see my face (full of expression and humor that assist in conveying the lesson), and I cannot see your faces, WHICH IS TERRIFYING. One of my talents is reading a crowd and reconnoitering my style if needed. Humor is one of my biggest assets. My motto is “if they are laughing, they are listening.”

When I see quotes like these below … the inherent fretting that comes with webinars is absolutely worth it!

“I loved that the faculty spoke slowly & was appreciative of the audience. She was very thoughtful with her comments & answers. She genuinely wants to teach participants.”

“A lot of these topics can be confusing and ambiguous and can definitely cause issues so I am glad y’all are tackling these issues for us so that we can possibly avoid getting into potential legal issues. Great presentation and speaker.”

I love having the honor of working with the pharmacy and medical community, especially when partnered with great organizations like PharmCon freeCE.

$8M EEOC Settlement to Resolve Multiple Discrimination Charges

$8M EEOC Settlement to Resolve Multiple Discrimination Charges

Circle K Stores Inc. has entered into an agreement with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to resolve disability, pregnancy and retaliation discrimination charges, the federal agency announced today via an EEOC press release.

THIS is why I train managers on the ADA, Title VII and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. Training and experienced legal counsel policy review are critical in staying on the right side of the law and history.

“The EEOC determined it had reasonable cause to believe Circle K denied reasonable accommodations to pregnant employees and those with disabilities, subjecting them to actions such as involuntary unpaid leave, retaliation, requiring employees be 100% healed to return to work, or terminations.”

“In addition, the company has agreed to update its policies, as needed; appoint a coordinator to provide oversight on pregnancy-related disability policies, requests for reasonable accommodations, and maintenance of records; conduct climate surveys and exit interviews with specific attention to their accommodation process; conduct anti-discrimination training to all employees, including management; and require performance evaluation of managers include consideration of compliance with EEO laws. This settlement is in effect for four years.”
